How Mega Mart Uses RMH and POS Unlimited to Connect Grocery, Loyalty, Web Ordering, and Store Operations

Mega Mart, a Korean-American specialty grocery retailer with multiple U.S. locations, needed more than a traditional point-of-sale system. Their previous grocery software could not connect the customer experience, inventory, back-office receiving, loyalty, reporting, web ordering, and custom store workflows in the way their business required.

With Retail Management Hero™ (RMH) and their RMH Solution Provider, POS Unlimited, Mega Mart gained a configurable retail POS and inventory management platform that could be extended around their operations. Today, RMH supports Mega Mart’s retail stores, loyalty app, gift card programs, mobile receiving, self-checkout, web ordering, department transfers, reporting, and multilingual store environments — helping the business operate with greater visibility, flexibility, and control.

Customer Overview: A Complex Specialty Grocery Operation Built Around Community, Scale, and Experience

Mega Mart is part of Nongshim Co., Ltd., a South Korean multinational food and beverage company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. In the U.S., Mega Mart serves Korean-American and multicultural communities through large-format grocery and food service locations across California and Georgia.

As an independent specialty grocery retailer, Mega Mart’s operations go far beyond a standard checkout lane. Their stores include grocery departments, fresh food offerings, seafood, deli items, bakery concepts, food service areas, and in some locations, restaurant operations.

Across its U.S. locations, Mega Mart operates a mix of traditional POS lanes, warehouse terminals, and self-checkout stations with 71 POS deployments and counting.

For a retailer this complex, the POS system is not simply a transaction tool. It is the foundation for daily operations, customer experience, inventory movement, reporting, loyalty, and future technology growth.

The Challenge: Disconnected Tools Were Limiting Growth

Before RMH, Mega Mart was using grocery-oriented software, but the system could not support the connected retail experience they wanted to build. Customer-facing tools, their custom app, website, inventory, back-office receiving, loyalty, and store operations were disconnected, limiting both daily efficiency and future growth.

At the store level, those limitations created real challenges. Mega Mart could not easily access historical customer receipts at the POS, loyalty relied on punch cards that were hard to track and easy to lose, and receiving workflows were difficult to manage in a high-volume environment where product arrives throughout the day. Mega Mart needed a system that could connect operations, support omnichannel growth, and adapt to the way their business actually works, not force the business to work around the software.

Why Mega Mart Chose RMH

Mega Mart chose RMH because of its flexibility, configurability, and ability to serve as a platform for extensions.

For Mega Mart, the value of RMH was not only in the core POS functionality. It was in the ability to configure the system, integrate existing applications, and build custom tools around their specific workflows. RMH gave POS Unlimited the foundation to develop solutions that connected directly into Mega Mart’s operations.

That flexibility was especially important because Mega Mart’s needs were not simple. The business needed support for retail grocery transactions, loyalty, mobile app engagement, promotions, gift cards, inventory receiving, reporting, department-level movement of goods, custom labels, web ordering, and self-checkout.

RMH also provided value through day-to-day usability. Mega Mart identified item management, import/export tools, and manager search functionality as especially helpful. Reporting also became a key benefit, giving the business stronger visibility into performance, operations, and customer activity.

As one Mega Mart team member shared:

“RMH provides high visibility for data analysis, and the manager search ability in RMH is better than any other POS system we have used.”

For Mega Mart, RMH created the foundation. POS Unlimited helped bring that foundation to life.

The Solution: RMH + POS Unlimited

Mega Mart’s RMH Solution Provider, POS Unlimited, played a central role in helping the business move beyond a standard POS implementation.

Rather than simply installing software and stepping away, POS Unlimited became a strategic technology partner for Mega Mart. They helped the retailer identify opportunities, solve operational challenges, and develop custom functionality that extended RMH around the way Mega Mart actually works.

As Mega Mart described it, POS Unlimited is not just their tech company — they have become a business partner.

Custom Loyalty App Integrated with RMH Loyalty

Before RMH, Mega Mart relied on punch cards for loyalty. These were difficult to track, easy to lose, and limited in their ability to provide meaningful customer insight.

With RMH and POS Unlimited, Mega Mart now uses a custom loyalty app integrated with RMH Loyalty. Customers can sign up before stepping foot in the store, view purchase history and points, and receive promotions and coupons through the app.

The loyalty app has helped Mega Mart gain greater visibility into customer behavior and increase transactions tied to members. Mega Mart is still continuing to build out its marketing and loyalty strategy, but the foundation is now in place to better engage customers and use loyalty data more effectively.

Gift Cards as Customer Engagement Tools

POS Unlimited also developed gift card functionality for Mega Mart. The gift cards can be used as traditional gift cards or distributed as promotional tools and coupon-like incentives.

For Mega Mart, gift cards are not just a payment method. They are another way to bring customers into the store and support community-based engagement.

Mobile Receiving Integrated with RMH Manager

Receiving is a constant part of Mega Mart’s daily operation. Product arrives throughout the day, and employees need to move around the back room and store areas while processing inventory.

The mobile receiving app integrated with RMH Manager has become essential to this workflow. According to Mega Mart General Manager, there is “no way they could keep up with receiving without the app.”

Instead of being tied to a fixed workstation, employees can walk through the back room, receive product, manage inventory, and keep operations moving more efficiently. For a high-volume grocery environment, that mobility has been a major operational improvement.

Web Ordering Integrated with RMH

Mega Mart is currently using web ordering at its Duluth, Georgia location, allowing customers to order groceries online through the website. Those orders are integrated into the RMH POS system.

The Duluth web ordering program currently processes approximately 150–200 orders per week. Mega Mart also noted a constant stream of activity and is planning to implement online ordering in additional locations.

Because customers are already ordering from Duluth and shipping to California, Mega Mart sees additional opportunity to expand this capability across more locations.

Self-Checkout at Jagalchi

At the Jagalchi location, Mega Mart operates six self-checkout lanes running RMH software. This gives customers the flexibility to choose between traditional checkout and self-checkout, while allowing Mega Mart to expand the ways shoppers move through the store.

For a busy, large-format food complex, self-checkout provides another way to support customer convenience and operational flow.

Department Transfers for Grocery and Food Service

Mega Mart’s operations include both retail grocery and restaurant or prepared food production. This creates a unique inventory challenge: ingredients may begin as store stock but later move into restaurant or production workflows.

POS Unlimited developed department transfer functionality to support this need. The feature helps Mega Mart track inventory movement, margins, quantities, invoicing, and profit as products move from the store side into restaurant or food production use.

This functionality did not previously exist in RMH for Mega Mart’s specific use case, but POS Unlimited helped make it possible.

Custom Labels and Store-Specific Needs

Mega Mart also needed large-format labels with custom designs. POS Unlimited developed custom label functionality that integrates directly with RMH, giving Mega Mart the ability to support product labeling in a way that fits their store environment and presentation needs.

Reporting and Visibility

Reporting has become one of the most valuable parts of Mega Mart’s RMH environment. The business receives reporting visibility across stores, and U.S. reporting rolls up to headquarters in Seoul every night.

For a business connected to both U.S. store operations and Korean headquarters, this level of visibility is critical. RMH helps Mega Mart better understand performance, analyze data, and support decision-making across locations.

Results and Business Impact

With RMH and POS Unlimited, Mega Mart has built a more connected, flexible retail technology environment that supports both daily operations and future innovation.

  • Stronger Customer Visibility
  • More Connected Omnichannel Operations
  • Improved Receiving Workflows
  • Better Reporting and Data Analysis

One of the most important outcomes is Mega Mart’s ability to keep building. With RMH as the foundation and POS Unlimited as the development and support partner, Mega Mart can continue exploring new ideas, including online ordering expansion, additional store rollouts, and future technology such as RFID or AI-driven transaction concepts.

The POS Unlimited Partnership

POS Unlimited has been a key part of Mega Mart’s success with RMH.

Mega Mart described POS Unlimited as more than a vendor. The team does not simply show up for implementation and leave. They provide ongoing support, training, product guidance, custom development, and strategic input.

From initial training to day-to-day product questions, POS Unlimited continues to support Mega Mart’s retail operation. Their responsiveness and willingness to push technology forward have made them a vital partner.

As Mega Mart shared:

“POS Unlimited is always quick to respond to anything we need.”

That responsiveness matters because Mega Mart’s needs are constantly evolving. Whether the business is expanding web ordering, refining loyalty, improving receiving, or exploring future innovation, POS Unlimited helps turn ideas into practical tools that work inside the RMH environment.

Conclusion: A POS Foundation Built for What Comes Next

Mega Mart’s story shows what becomes possible when a retailer has both the right platform and the right Solution Provider.

With RMH, Mega Mart gained a configurable retail POS and inventory management platform that could support its complex grocery, food service, loyalty, receiving, reporting, and customer engagement needs. With POS Unlimited, the business gained a partner that could extend RMH even further — building custom tools, connecting workflows, and helping Mega Mart continue to innovate.

For Mega Mart, RMH is not just a POS. It is the foundation for a connected retail technology stack that supports how the business operates today and where it wants to go next.

For specialty and multi-store retailers ready to modernize their POS environment, RMH provides the flexibility, partner ecosystem, and retail-focused tools to build around the way their business actually works.
