Leading Reseller in Latin America Shifts from Dynamics RMS to RMH as Replacement POS Solution

There are many advantages for a product with worldwide appeal to enter new countries and markets. But, there are challenges too. Translation, currency, tax, culture, infrastructure, political system, resources, to name a few.

As the next-gen replacement product for Microsoft Dynamics RMS, Retail Management Hero (RMH) was initially launched in the North America market in 2016 to give small-to-medium (SMB) businesses a complete retail management solution that let them efficiently manage all their back office and point-of-sale (POS) activities.

Over the past year, as RMH has continued to penetrate new markets and regions through the United States, it has also started to expand worldwide -- and heavily into Latin America. Tiacom, S.A., a leading reseller in Panama who selected RMH as their new go-to POS solution, recently faced the exciting challenge of localizing RMH to comply with the country's fiscal laws and regulations.

Tiacom's story is one of much success. We asked the company's IT Manager, Joaquín Villareal Padilla to share with us their RMH story and how they were able to complete the fiscal localization process.

Tiacom has built a successful business selling Microsoft Dynamics RMS. Why did you select RMH as your go-to POS solution for retailers in Panama?

We selected RMH mainly as a natural replacement for the now discontinued Microsoft Dynamics RMS. We did a comparative evaluation and discovered all the new features that RMH brings as well as general usability and technological improvements.

Why did you need to localize RMH for Panama?

RMH in a standard way didn't work for the Panamanian market because the government demands a fiscal localization on the commercialized POS solutions sold within the country. Localizing RMH, we could meet the government's request and reach our customers with a 100% solution located in Panama.

Describe the fiscal localization process in Panama. What were the challenges? Opportunities?

The fiscal interface development was our first challenge because we needed to deliver to our customers a retail POS solution with transparent connectivity to fiscal printers authorized by the Panamanian government. In this way, we saw opportunity to use RMH's framework kit development to solve this issue and make an interface adapted to the Panamanian market. We appreciated how the framework kit is very complete and we had the ability to do many interesting developments that we could offer our clients.

 What does the localization success mean for retailers in the area?

The retailers will have a POS solution that allows them to grow and manage their inventories more efficiently as well as handle all processes related to this environment. In terms of benefits, they will have an intuitive tool that is scalable and supported by a strong partners network. It's why we're really excited to help Panamanian retailers manage all their POS activities with RMH.
